Dear Christ Church,
There are several important matters that we would like to draw to your attention this week:
Presentation of St Mark’s Gospel
David Newman is here this Sunday morning to give us his dynamic presentation of St Mark’s Gospel. The service will be longer than usually, probably ending at 12.15. There will be an interval in the middle at which drinks and refreshments will be served. Please note – Explorers and Pathfinders have been cancelled so that the children and young people can attend the presentation.
Sunday evening service
We're doing a really interesting series in 1 Corinthians and this week, we come to a challenging passage on women and men (which Jay is looking forward to preaching.) For those who can't make the morning, the evening service is always a good one to attend. Or come to both!
40 days with Jesus
This is a new post-Easter resource for individuals, small groups and churches. At its heart is an invitation to actively explore the accounts of the risen Jesus. At Christ Church it will form our morning sermon series from Easter Sunday and home groups have been invited to study the material next term. We would like to encourage everyone to follow the daily devotional guide and are therefore offering this book at the subsided price of £4. Do complete the slip (available at the back of church) and return to Andy Goddard or the church office, with your £4, no later than Sunday 22nd March.
Perhaps you are a recent member of the congregation here at Christ Church and would like to confirm your commitment. If so, one way is to join the Electoral Roll. There is a leaflet entitled “’Belonging’ & the Electoral Roll” which develops and explains more fully this aspect of church membership. These and the Electoral Roll forms are on the information table at the back of church together with a box for completed forms. In general, all adults over the age of 16 who regularly attend services at Christ Church are eligible for enrolment. If you have any queries please speak to Roger Wilkinson, Jay or one of the wardens. People who are already on the Electoral Roll do not need to complete a form again unless they have moved in the last 12 months or married and changed their name.
PCC Secretary and Treasurer
These 2 important roles need filling from April 2015:
- Secretary – someone with admin skills is needed for the 6 PCC meetings and APCM held each year. They do not need to be a voting member of the PCC if they don’t wish to be.
- Treasurer –financial accounting skills are needed for this role; the day-to-day book-keeping is done by the assistant treasurer
If you are interested, or need more information, please speak with Jay.
Bring and Share meal and APCM
We are encouraging everyone to attend this lunch before our APCM on Sunday 19th April, but in order to hold the lunch we need volunteers to help in the kitchen. I will be co-ordinating the helpers but am unable to help on the day due to the admin work I have to do for the APCM. If you can help, please contact me on 01689 824707 or by replying to this email.
