There seems to be so much to tell you about this week:
Please do take time today and tomorrow to pray about this important event and how you should vote. The church will be open tomorrow to allow anyone who would like to prayer quietly here the opportunity to do so. It is probably best if you enter through the front church doors; we hope to be able to open up the doors into the café so that you can easily vote afterwards if Christ Church is your polling station.
Christian Aid Week – 10th-16th May
We urgently need volunteers to deliver and collect Christian Aid envelopes during the above dates. This involves choosing a road from the road list and delivering envelopes to those houses at the beginning of the week and returning to collect them by the end of the week. This normally takes a couple of hours to cover 90 houses – many roads have fewer houses than this. If you would like to be involved, please give Karen Smith a call on 01689 820872 or email email@example.com. Alternatively, the ‘road list’ is on the notice board in the café area if you would prefer to sign up there.
Weekly prayer meetings
For many years we have held a prayer meeting on Saturday mornings at 9am, but this time does not suit everyone in the church. We are therefore proposing that the time be changed and that we meet in the Chapel for prayer on a Wednesday morning at 10am for 45 minutes (except the first Wednesday of the month when there will be a Holy Communion service). Please do try and come along from 20th May for this fresh start in praying for our church life together!
Big Day Out – Sunday 19th July
There is a flier attached that describes this event – the first event of this kind that the Diocese has organised. You are welcome to attend but do note that this is the day of our Holiday Club launch service and BBQ.
Church Day Away 3rd Oct
We have organised a Church Day Away for Saturday 3rd October. This is a day for the whole church family to come together at Otford Manor - the home of the Oak Hall Christian Team. Otford Manor is a lovely location; just far away enough to feel like an outing, but not so far as to hinder people attending. The day will begin at 9.30am (for 10am) and finish with light refreshments at 4pm. It will provide an opportunity for the church family to socialise and spend time together! Please do take time to read the leaflet available from the back of church (or as a download on the left) giving full details and a booking form – which needs to be returned by 30th June. We trust it will be a great day of fun and fellowship together.
…and finally – there will be a 9am Holy Communion service this Sunday – Vernon apologies for leaving it off the notice sheet last Sunday.
