Dear Christ Church,
This will be the last email I send out from Christ Church Orpington as Parish Administrator as I leave at the end of April (although I am not working after Easter as I have some leave to take – Alan and I will be walking in Portugal).
May I thank you all for your support, help, encouragement and kind words in what will be 2 weeks short of 16 years in post. The latter in particular has helped more than you will ever know.
On the whole, I have enjoyed serving you and our church in this role – it wasn’t until I did the ‘Network’ course some years after I had started the job that I realised administration was one of my gifts. I must admit that last year, during the interregnum, the job did get a bit much as the amount of work increased far more than I had envisaged it would without a vicar and it was difficult not having ‘a boss’.
My successor is a lovely young lady called Anna Carey who attends Green Street Green Baptist Church, and who lives only a few metres from our church. She has been shadowing me for the last couple of weeks so that she can learn the many facets of this role. Please be patient as she gets to grips with a new job and learns how an Anglican church does things! I believe she will be a real asset to the team here at Christ Church.
Anna previously worked as an administrator in London but since having two young children decided to work close by. She is very much looking forward to working with you all.
