Sunday Groups
‘whoever welcomes one of these little children in My Name, welcomes Me.’
Mark 9:37
Children’s Ministry
Children are a precious gift from God and a valued part of the Christ Church family. It is our heart’s desire to see them come to know Jesus as Saviour and grow as whole-life followers of Him.
Sunday Mornings
During term time, fun groups for children and young people are available each week at our main 10.30am service, led by Children’s Minister, Naomi, and our wonderful team of volunteers. Creche facilities are also available in the Rainbow Room for parents with babies and preschool children.
All children are very welcome at Christ Church including those with additional needs of any kind. We are committed to doing our very best to assist anyone who needs support at any of our groups.
Sunday Groups
Children begin in church with their parents and leave the service to join their groups after the opening time of worship. On the first Sunday of the month children go straight to their groups at 10.25am and return to church with their leaders to take part in Holy Communion later in the service.
Climbers & Explorers
(Primary School)
Climbers (age 4-7)and Explorers (age 8-11) meet together in the large hall.
Sessions are a lot of fun and include Bible teaching, activities, crafts and games.
Please collect your children from the hall when the service has finished.
Pathfinders
(Secondary School)
Pathfinders (age 11-14) meets in the small hall. It is a relaxed, informal group helping to make Christianity relevant to young people today. Sessions include Bible study, discussion and games.
for more activities for young people aged 11+ please visit the Youth page.
A registration Form must be completed by a parent/carer on the child’s first visit please.
Please note: Children remain the responsibility of their parent/carer until they are safely registered into groups.
All-Age Services
All-Age services are held at special times of the year such as Harvest, Mother’s Day and Easter etc. Children and young people stay with their families in church instead of going out to Sunday groups. These services are shorter and geered towards children. The young people themselves may also be involved in helping to lead them.
Rainbow Room Crèche
Our Crèche sessions are held in the Rainbow Room soft play facility located by the main doors into the church. Parents can bring babies and children here at any time during the main service. Currently a parent must stay with their child, and there is a television link to the church service. There may be a short story and song time towards the end of the session. There is also a children’s quiet area outside the Rainbow room with books, colouring and puzzles.
Children’s Activity Bags
Cloth bags with toys and other activities for young children are hanging on pegs at the back of the church. Please do use these if you prefer your child to remain with you in the service rather than going into the Crèche.
